The South boys’ swim team vigorously swam its way to a third place victory on Jan. 5 at the Newton swim meet. Participating teams included: South, Maize High, Newton, Hutchinson, Rose Hill and McPherson.
“On the starting block I think mainly on forms, and how I am going to try and do better,” Jacob Evraets, 9, said. “In this meet I swam the 100 fly, 500 free, 200 medley relay and 400 relay.”
South boys came out with a total score of 249.
“The highlight for me of this meet was mainly the last relays because that’s when we go the fastest and try our hardest,” Evraets said.
After a strong placement at Newton, South swimmers were excited and ready to compete Jan. 7 in El Dorado. The boys’ team placed fourth.
