Takedown after takedown. Pin after pin. Medal after medal. The South wrestling team experienced all of these at the Andover tournament on Jan. 30. South had seven Varsity wrestlers place.

“The team wrestled well, the team improved during the tournament, and I was pleased with the results,” Matt Kerr, coach, said.

Rylan Kasitz and Luke Moore, both 12, took first in their weight class. Kasitz won the 132 weight class as did Moore at 152. Jason West, 10, took second in the 113 weight class.

“I thought I did well,” West said. “I need to work on shot defense and getting better on my feet.”

Dawson Kuhn, 11, took third at 170, Ryan Bertha, 11, took fourth at the 138 weight class.

“We did alright, there are some things we need to work on for the next tournament,” Bertha said.
With the trials and errors from the Andover tournament, South works to improve results for upcoming tournaments.
