After a few weeks of hard work and struggle the South Choir pulled through with the first performance of the year. It gave the group one night and one chance to prove how far a Battle of the Sexes can go on Oct. 15. They performed old number-one hits such as “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls, “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor, and the famous “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
A surprise came to students and audience members when Maddie Luckert, 11, showed up in a wedding dress that Fayrene McNabb, choir instructor, had instructed her to change into last minute before the production.

“It was pretty random, but since I couldn’t dance due to my leg Mrs. McNabb had me wear the dress instead,” Luckert said.

The groups next performance will be their annual Christmas performance.
