South Soccer played three games this week, first against Berean Academy on Oct. 3, then Circle on Oct. 4 and finally against Salina South on Oct. 5. The Berean game was away, but South hosted the last two.

The varsity soccer team lost 2-4 to Berean Academy. Nick Richardson,12, scored both goals for the Mavericks. Richardson was able to score two goals in the first half, but Berean Academy scored a few goals in the second half to come out on top.

“In the first half there was a good build up that lead to us scoring,” Richardson said

It was a different story for the soccer team on Tuesday, however. The team won 4-0 against Circle. South dominated the whole game.

“I love soccer because it’s interesting and it’s a fast-paced game that requires skill,” Bryson Stricker 11, said

The Varsity soccer team won 1-0 against Salina South on Oct. 5. It was a close game throughout the first half, but in the middle of the second half Aaron Howard, 12, scored off of a corner kick to put the Mavericks ahead

“We had the corner that Jake Eskridge (10) put in, which then lead to Aaron Howard scoring a goal,” Makena Rhodes, 10, said.

The team’s next game is on Oct. 10 against Hutchinson at Hutchinson High School.
